Kind of Makgeoli

There are many kinds of Makgeoli in Korea. Different regions have different Makgeoli. Each Makgeoliis influenced by a culture of each region. Now we introduce various Makgeoli in Korea.


Seoul Jansu Makgeoli
This is Jansu Makgeoli. It is most popular in Korea. It’s made in Yeongdeungpo. It is harmonized with sour, sweet and bitter taste. So many people enjoy drinking Jansu Makgeoli
Gyeounggi
Edong Makgeoli

 This is Edong Makgeoli. Edong is name of region, not meaning ‘moving’ in Korean. It is made in Pocheon. Groundwater in Pocheon is very clean. That’s why Edongmakgeoli is popular in Korea.
Gangwon
Corn Makgeoli
It is corn makgeoli. Corns are specialized in Gangwon. It is made in Jeongseon. It’s more sweet  than others because of corn. Long ago, farmers have been drinking it while they are farming

Jeonla
Sweet potato Makgeoli
It is made from purple sweet potatoes. These are effective in preventing aging and also have anti-cancer effect. It is made in Okcheon. Meaning of Okcheon is ‘pure water like jade’. Because of pure water, taste of Makgeoli is really good.
Jeju
Tangerine Makgeoli
One of popular thing in Jeju is tangerine. We can taste sweet tangerine and makgeoli together. People who don’t like alchol can drink more easily.
Chungcheong-
Lotus Makgeoli

It is made in Sinpyeoung. Sinpyeoung have been made makgeoli since 1933. It is made from white lotus leaves. Its taste is simple and cool.
